Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/2 lb. sweet Italian sausage (Optional)
- 1 medium onion -chopped
- 2 garlic cloves -minced
- 1 (15 oz.) can tomato sauce
- 1 (15 oz.) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 (6 oz.) cans tomato paste
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 3 teaspoons salt
- 3 teaspoons Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 cup minced fresh flat-leaf parsley
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 15 oz. (1 3/4 cups) whole milk Ricotta cheese
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg
- 12 lasagna noodles Instructions
Instructions:
- Boil pasta: In a large pot of salted water boil lasagna noodles.
- Prepare meat sauce: Cook sausage and ground beef with onion and garlic and all other ingredients listed above. Drain well, then add the pasta sauce & simmer it for a few minutes to thicken.
- Combine cheese mixture: Stir the cheese mixture together in a bowl.
- Layer & bake: Layer the meat sauce and cheese mixture with lasagna noodles and bake until the top of the lasagna is golden brown.
